The Capacity Building Training Programme on Sustainable Product Development using Water Hyacinth for SC Fishers & Allied Workers was held at JAIN University, Kochi, and jointly organised by MPEDA–NETFISH, Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Govt. of India, and Future Kerala Mission – JAIN University, Kochi.

The programme began with lamp lighting and prayer, followed by a welcome from Dr. Resmi C P, Dy Director, School of Humanities & Social Science. Dr. G Nagendra Prabhu, Scientific Advisor, FKM, outlined the event’s vision and objectives. Dr. J. Letha, Pro-Vice Chancellor, JAIN University, delivered the inaugural address, highlighting sustainable livelihood and community development.

The gathering featured an address by Dr. M K Rammohan, Director, MPEDA, and felicitation by Dr. Joice V Thomas, CEO, NETFISH. Starter kits were distributed to promote sustainable product innovation and skill-building. Participants gained practical knowledge of using water hyacinth to produce sustainable products and expressed greater confidence in applying these skills to their livelihoods. The event closed with a vote of thanks by Smt. Sangeetha N R, State Coordinator, MPEDA–NETFISH.

Mr. Radhakrishnan Unni, Head of Administration, Finance & Industry Engagement, and Mr. Santosh M K, State Coordinator, MPEDA NETFISH Kerala North, supported and encouraged participants throughout the session by actively participating in the programme.
